Courious to know what r u going to use the krylon fusion for? i know its plastic bond but the duplicolor wich u listed is way better. and u do have the adhesion promoter... why use a lesser paint?

I suggest trying dupli-color auto spray with the adhesion promoter it is by far the best paint i know.
Not on this project but check the stuff out.

No, I understand what your saying. Duplicolor is a very very good paint, that is why im using the adhesion promoter before the Krylon and Im using the clear coat Duplicolor as well. I like to use the krylon for color because it is the middle coat of paint and I allows for more flexing on plastic. Im not going to leave the Krylon as the top coat because it doesn't leave the gloss effect enough and I think it is still a weak coating for scratching.

Good stuff. I'll keep that in mind for later projects.
Sorry, no update to the project. I wanted to let the paint cure for one more night. it was still a little soft.

No worries, excited to see what it looks like.
Paint was always my least favorite part of a project.
Good to know about the paint.I used fusion and no adhesion promoter.I had some issues with the paint bubbling a tad(hate painting).I used regular krylon and primer on the red DVD cover.Have you guys ever seen the boxes on Here ?Box is gonna be very nice JZ,can't wait to see more.
yes, they've got some good ones there.
I'm hoping to get an album feature into the site where we can actually host albums viewable and editable by anyone out there. This would make a great gallery and it'd be easy to view too!
Ok, I moved on to the DVD drive to install the custom cover with the red metallic paint job. Its pretty straight forward. Remove the four screws under the drive and pull off the cover. Peel back the sticker on the original cover on the top side and use the supplied tool to remove the center magnetic DVD disc guide(I have no Idea what its called)
After finishing the DVD cover I pulled out all the rest of the parts and prepared them for install into the barebone console.
Installing the parts is pretty much plug and play. I hooked up the power supply and gave it a test run and everything works as intended.
Ok, that was as far as I made it last night. All I have to do now is finish assembling a LED strip to light up the rest of the case and test the install and all will be complete. I seriously plan to finish up the install later tonight and will update the rest accordingly. Usually it does not take this long to finish but like I said, I was a little backed up.
Update: Finished Project 360: Code Red
After the completion of the HDD I hooked it up and tested it and all is good. (sorry for the blurry image, couldn't get it to turn out)
I went ahead and assembled a LED strip of eight 10mm red LEDs and used the strips again. You can see that I used two seperate pieces as one was not to long but the use of these nifty little things makes wiring LEDs so much smoother.
I used the closest power source to wire up the LEDs to. It was the 12v connecting wire and ground to the back of the dvd drive wire. After soldering all the wires together I centered the strip and used 3m two sided foam tape and a little hot glue.
Ok, now for the back side of my custom mod. I cut a couple strips of the stainless steel heat shield so that they will fit between the console skeleton and the case.
Using the dremmel I took the sanding weels that are flexible and put a circular finish to them and painted them with the same metalic red I used on the other parts. (sorry I forgot to take that picture)
I used the hot glue gun to install the two pieces and this is how it looks. There is no LEDs as there is just no room but it does accent the case on that side and it was the customers request to some how put his name on the backside of the case and this was my secret mod I was planning on showing. I think it turned out pretty well.
After getting ready to put all of the stuff together I realized I made a mistake. I forgot to order the RROL to install with the rest of the case. Im an idiot and will now have to wait to get it. But here are some of the finishing picks of the finished(well 90% finished) xbox project I tried to walk you through step by step. Sorry it turned into a wall of text, but there is a lot of process to get here. Let me know if you have any questions and I will be glad to help. Hope you like it as much as I did.
